Philosophy
The Problem:
Facing increasing competition both nationally and abroad, manufacturers need more highly skilled workers to
survive. Precision measurement is a key set of skills that take time and patience to develop. But shops often
can't afford to take valuable production time to allow their operators or others to spend a large part of
their day being teachers. In addition, the variety of digital and conventional gages found in shops today are
often not available for practice. Attempts at self-teaching using the operator's manual provided by the gage
builder has proven difficult if not impossible. Most manuals are designed as reference material, not teaching
tools.
The MasterTask Solution:
MasterTask training, with 40 years of experience in developing courseware for machinery operators, gives you the tools you need to meet the challenge. This course achieves four major goals:
This course achieve four major goals:
- Provide instruction on the major types of measuring devices, basics of print reading and GD&T, and shop math.
- Provide simulations of the measurement process so you can practice the tasks without the pressures of production situations or the fear of damaging equipment.
- Give you the power to select exactly the training materials you need.
- Learn at your own pace with a schedule that meets your needs without relying on on-the-job instructors that may not be completely prepared themselves.
Focused Instruction and Testing:
To make sure you learn exactly what you need, you select from inch, metric, or both systems of measurement. The measuring instruments you'll see during the instruction, testing, and in the Work Sheet questions are determined by the selections made when registering for the course.
Since we've all experienced tests, we know they are designed with a certain amount of failure expected. If everyone got 100%, the instructor made the test harder. MasterTask tests are designed to make sure you have the information, and nothing more. You will be able to get 100% with relative ease.
You Select the Modules:
Since the course has 47 modules, you can choose to select individual modules rather than follow the inch or
metric path through the course. Your selections will let you focus on the specific problem areas you wish to
overcome. You pay just $9.95 for each module when taking this approach. See the Cost
section for more information.
Simulations:
Most schools cannot afford to have examples of all the wide variety of measuring instruments used in shops in their labs. Yet those are the skills you need in today's competitive world. You'll be tested on realistic simulations of the measuring situations and instruments you will find in industry. You will learn the job tasks procedures, and if you're already employed in the industry, you can put them into practice each day as your knowledge grows. You really can "work smarter, not harder".
The Learning Sequence:
After viewing a module, you will answer the questions in the Work Sheet. You can go between the Work Sheet and
the Core and Specific sections of the module until you feel that you have all the information. Then you can
begin the Interactive Test. The test questions that will appear will be determined by the choices you made for
the course. Once you answer all the questions in a test, you'll be allowed to advance to the next module or
section. You'll have help available at the click of the mouse. E-mail our consultants if you have any questions
about a test item for a quick reply.
