The Problem: Facing increasing competition both nationally and abroad, manufacturers are calling upon the educational system to supply more highly skilled workers to survive. But schools can't afford to invest in the growing variety of analog and digital measuring equipment that is likely to be found in their local shops. In addition to the costs involved, it has become increasingly difficult for instructors to be knowledgeable on all the common systems and techniques.
The Solution: MasterTask training, with 38 years of experience in developing courseware for the machining trades, gives you the tools you need to meet the challenge.
This course achieves four major goals:

Refining the Course: The course administrator or instructor will control what skills a person learns at three levels. First, the initial selection inch, metric, or both systems determines which modules will be active. Second, the instructor can activate or deactivate modules to further customize the course. Third, questions within a module test can be turned on and off at the instructor's discretion using the Adapt Test function. Once these selections are completed, all the elements of the course are automatically adjusted including the instruction, the Work Sheet questions and the interactive test. Your students can be organized into any size "class" within the course, even as small as one. This gives you the power to customize the courseware for any group without affecting the others.

Simulations: Performing the measuring tasks requires practice with instruments. Few schools can afford to have examples of all of the common measuring devices, and certainly not enough the handle the needs of large classes. Yet, those are the skills students need in today's manufacturing plants. MasterTask interactive tests include realistic simulations of the actual instruments. They will learn their job skills without tying your limited lab equipment or making costly mistakes that can damage gages or require costly re calibration.
Teaching the Measurement Process: Measurement is a sequence of events that begin with reading the print, selecting the correct instrument based on the tolerance, cleaning the gage and piece, correctly measuring the feature, reading the instrument, and calculating any necessary adjustments using shop math. The sequence of the lessons in the course follow this pattern. This brings the trainee to a complete understanding of the tasks involved in measurement.
Rather than just concentrate on the basics alone, MasterTask has researched the causes of common measurement errors. The course seeks to eliminate them by making students aware of the problem and creating test items that simulate the conditions under which they occur.


The Learning Sequence: After viewing a module, the student will answer the questions in the Work Sheet. Answers to the Work Sheet questions are found in the printable Instructor's Guide or can be viewed online with the Instructor's password. Students can go between the Work Sheet and the Core and Specific sections of instruction in the module until they feel they have all the information. Then they can then begin the Interactive Test. As indicated above, the test questions that will appear will be determined by the selections made by the instructor when registering the student in a class.
