Instructor: The instructor's user name and password allows them to register students, assign them passwords, enroll them into their assigned classes, and check their records. An instructor may have more than one class assigned to them by the administrator, as indicated in the above chart. There are no limits to the number of classes or trainees. The records of all the students enrolled in an instructor's classes are accessible to them. The instructor screens, and others in the management system, include help files. As shown below, the help files explain how to use the menu selections available or perform common tasks. Students: Individuals are registered in the course from either the Instructor or Administrator screens. For convenience, they can be assigned to a group such as a department, building or other identifying information such as Adult Ed, Continuing Ed, or class hour and room number. A custom ID field is also provided which might be used for a student number. Any number of students can be entered into a group. At the top of many management pages is a FIND function. Searches can be performed for individuals or groups of students by selecting their group name, class, or searching by their names or custom ID. Classes and Passwords: A class is established by the Administrator by assigning an Instructor and selecting the modules of instruction. Beside each student name is the "Type" column. The letters correspond to G for Core, I for Inch, and M for Metric. When the Administrator sets up the class, a user name and password are established for the instructor that they will use to perform all of the class management functions. Each student will also have a user name and password they must enter to access their instruction and testing. There are no "seat licenses" since any computer with a current web browser can be used for accessing the courseware. Likewise, there are no "site licenses" since students can access the course from any location. Delivery Options: Open-entry open-exit and other self-paced approaches can be easily administered. With these techniques, classes are established and students are assigned. A student will automatically progress to the next active module once they achieve a perfect score on the current test. Pretests and Other Functions: Pre testing can be done with the Student Guide Work Sheets. You can select the Modules to be included in your pre test. Particular test questions within the interactive test for a section may be left active so that the Work Sheet questions, when printed, will only cover the topics selected. Printing the Work Sheet once will provide a master that can be duplicated for future use. The Tests can also be turned off with the Activity Status feature leaving just the instruction on. This might be used if you wanted to have a class that was used for informing people about the subject matter but you did not want to test them. Communication Tools: When entering students, the instructor can enter an e-mail address for each person. The instructor can then communicate with individuals or the whole class by e-mail. Students can also e-mail the instructor. Reporting Features: Class and Student reports can be generated and printed by either the Instructor or Administrator. Administrator: This person has the highest level password. It enables them to create classes, assign instructors, and access to all the training records. Most of the functions assigned to instructors can also be performed by the administrator. This person may be from the administration, a department head, or a senior instructor.
