-------------------------------------------------------

Updater for VERSION 1.0 (Users of version 1.1 do NOT need this upgrade):

A free upgrade to version 1.1 was sent to all users of record in April of 2001. The upgrade consisted of an Installer CD-ROM version 1.1 and the new version of the Installation Manual, also marked as version 1.1 on the title page. If you did NOT RECEIVE the version 1.1 disk and manual, notify our office at 1-800-624-6968.

Description:
------------
The Updater #1 for Precision Measurement for Machinists (PMM) corrected several questions. In addition, it provided the following new features.

1) The Independent Course Manager (ICM) module.
This new management system can be installed on any computer, typically on a network. It allows class instructors or course administrators to administer the classes and monitor the testing process without taking up a student computer.

All functions which are available in the standard Course Manager are also available in the ICM, with the exception of taking tests or viewing the Tutorial. You can add and delete students, make tests inactive or active, adapt tests to fit your curriculum or training agenda, and so on. The ICM does not count against the number of seat licenses which were purchased.

The Independent Course Manager does not install a set of data files; it is designed to work with an existing set of data files. For this reason, you should complete installation of the main PMM 1.1 program before installing the ICM. This will include either a) deciding to use existing data files if you are upgrading an existing installation, or b) installing new data files if this is a new installation. See the READ ME file on the version 1.1 . For full information and step-by-step procedures, see the version 1.1 Installation Guide manual included with the upgrade.

Once the PMM program is installed, install the Independent Course Manager by running the installer named "Install Icm.exe", located in the Tools directory on the Installer Pro disc. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the program and to locate the existing data files.

2) Time Report.
A powerful new tool in the management of your classes is the Time Report. This report screen shows you where each student stands as they progress through the lessons. The time that each student takes to complete each test is shown in relation to the other students in the class and to the class average. You can see at a glance which students are doing well and which ones are doing poorly. And since these results are shown in relation to the class average, it provides an unbiased "yardstick" to assess student performance, motivation and learning.
