The CD-ROMs: Eleven CD-ROMs are provided with the course. Ten of them contain an individual test for a lesson within the course. The eleventh, called the "PMM Installer", allows installation of the Course Management System on your PCs.
The Tests: Tests are made up of a variety of interactive questions types to maintain student interest. When possible, the questions on a topic will include a simulation of the measuring process. For example, reading a micrometer with a vernier scale requires the person to move a slider to rotate the instrument to find the matched lines. The values read must then be totaled and entered on a simulated keypad.
In the lesson on Profilometers, the Student positions the instrument by moving the image on the screen and making adjustments to bring the probe into contact with the surface.
The CMM lesson requires the individual to complete measurements of True Position, Perpendicularity, and angles. In these simulations the probe must be touched off properly by moving an image to the correct locations and listening for the tone indicating a measurement has occurred.
Tutorial: In addition to the CD-ROM test, each CD also includes a tutorial. This allows new students to try out a sample of the various interactive question types used within the tests and to use the various navigation buttons that appear on all test screens.
