Content: Computer simulations are being used to teach all kinds of critical skills from flying a plane to performing surgery. Now the power of simulation will allow your students learn how to measure with accuracy and precision. They will learn to read and interpret prints, perform shop math calculations, understand geometric dimensions and tolerances, and correctly use over 35 analog and digital measuring instruments. These include various types of micrometers, calipers, and scales; height, plug, and thread gages; surface roughness gages and profilometers; and Optical Comparators and Coordinate Measuring Machines. They will "master the task" with this MasterTask course.
Metric and Inch: When students are registered for the CD-ROM tests, the instructor selects Inch, Metric or both systems of measurement. Each person will then be tested on simulations of the types of instruments and prints chosen.
Materials: The 10 professionally produced video lessons are the source of instruction. Videos average 25 minutes in length and are divided into parts based on the topics included. Instruction is available on DVD or VHS tape.
Written tests, called Work Sheets, are found in the Student Guide. They can be used in a variety of ways depending on the course structure utilized.
The ten CD-ROMs provide the final test for each lesson. Simulations of various measuring situations appear throughout the tests. These allow students to practice reading instruments and making calculations in realistic environments. And when they make a mistake, the computer corrects them immediately.
The Leader's Manual explains how to implement the course using classroom or self-paced techniques and how to use the integrated Course Management System. It also provides the answers to all Student Guide and CD-ROM questions.
The Install Manual shows how the Course Management System is installed using the Install CD-ROM provided.
