Administrator: This person has the highest level password. It enables them to create classes and assign instructors giving them access to all the training records for that class. Most of the functions assigned to instructors can also be performed by the administrator. This person may be from the administration, a department head, or a senior instructor.
Instructor: The instructor's user name and password allows them to register students, assign them passwords, enroll them into their assigned classes and check their records. The instructor can assign the CNC control type on an individual basis. An instructor may have more than one class assigned to them by the administrator, as indicated by instructor 3 in the above chart. There are no limits to the number of classes or trainees. The records of all the students enrolled in an instructor's classes are accessible to them. The instructor screens, and others in the management system, include help files as shown below to explain how to use the menu selections available.

Students: Individuals are registered in the course from either the Instructor or Administrator screens. For convenience, they can be assigned to a group such as a department, building or other identifying information such as Adult Ed, Continuing Ed, or class hour and room number. A custom ID field is also provided which might be used for a student number. Any number of students can be entered into a group. At the top of many management pages is a FIND function. Searches can be performed for individuals or groups of students by selecting their group name, class, or searching by their last names or custom ID.

Classes and Passwords: A class is established by the Administrator by assigning an Instructor and selecting a Unit of instruction. Instructors can select CNC control types for the whole class or each trainee individually as shown below. Beside each student name is the "Machine" column. The letters correspond to the control types listed above, for example "Z" stands for the Fanuc Zero M series of controls. These options provide real power in designing the course to fit specific needs of each group or individual. When the Administrator sets up a class, an instructor is assigned to perform all of the class management functions. Each student will also have a user name and password they must enter to access their instruction and testing. There are no "seat licenses" since any computer with a current web browser can be used for accessing the courseware. Likewise, there are no "site licenses" since students can access the course from any location.

Delivery Options: After students view the instruction online, the instructor often leads a group discussion of the Work Sheet questions before directing the trainees to complete their tests online. Hands-on experience on lab machinery is then administered by the instructor.

Open-entry open-exit and other self-paced approaches can be easily administered. With these techniques, classes are established and students are assigned. A student will automatically progress to the next active module once they achieve a perfect score on the current test. Hands-on experience is then coordinated by the instructor.

Pretests and Other Functions: Pretesting can be done with the Student Guide Work Sheets. You can select the Units and Modules to be included in your pretest. Then only certain test questions within the interactive test for a section can be left active so that the Work Sheet questions printed will only cover the topics selected by the instructor. Printing the Work Sheet once will provide a master that can be duplicated for future use.

The Tests can also be turned off with the Activity Status feature leaving just the instruction on. This will keep students from progressing to the next lesson since all tests must be answered with 100% accuracy before the next module becomes active. This keeps the students progress synchronized as a group.

Communication Tools: When entering students, the instructor can enter an e-mail address for each person. The instructor can then communicate with individuals or the whole class by e-mail. Students can also e-mail the instructor.
